The Palomar Lux 1540 laser is the first FDA approved treatment of stretch marks*
Stretch marks show up when the dermal and sub-dermal tissues grow faster than the skin can tolerate, making tears in the basic structure and scarring the skin. Stretch marks can be compounded by hormonal changes connected with adolescence/puberty, pregnancy, weight training or hormone replacement. Many people live with their stretch marks not knowing that something can be done to treat stretch marks.
The bruised tissue of stretch marks does not provide the necessary support structure for our skin. There are numerous approaches to work towards modifying that tissue structure, the majority of which include regrowing or stimulating collagen, a bouncy protein that helps serve as a framework for different proteins in your skin. Lasers provide the most powerful treatment which will help to revamp the missing basic structure in a significant way.
Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing repairs the tears and scar tissue of stretch marks, and also softens their external appearance. Laser energy treats the deep damaged tissue areas and stimulates tissue under the stretch marks, breaking up the fibroblasts. With Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing, patients have seen up to 50-75% reduction in the appearance of stretch marks after several sessions every few months, with full results 3-4 months after the last treatment.*
Palomar’s Lux1540 Fractional™ laser uses non-ablative (less invasive) skin resurfacing. The Palomar is one of the newer skin treatment technologies. It evens out the skin’s surface and corrects pigmentation issues… all with little to no downtime.*
Who Gets Stretch Marks? What Do They Look Like?
Stretch marks are the most commonly occurring type of skin lesion. Most pregnant ladies get stretch marks, but they also occur in teenage girls and boys.
Stretch marks may be either white or red. Older stretch marks are ordinarily silvery or white. Fresher stretch marks have a tendency to be rosy or purple in shading.

More About the Palomar 1540
Fractional laser treatment allows the skin to heal faster than the older, more invasive ablative lasers. The Palomar 1540 Fractional™ laser projects series of microbeams, which pass beneath the epidermis and into the dermis, leaving surrounding tissues undamaged. The untreated tissue near the treated sections starts a regenerative process that develops new collagen. The outcome is even skin tone and color, which less lines and wrinkles.*
The Palomar Lux1540 emits light in sequential pulses, with dynamic contact cooling. This permits the treatment to be comfortable for the patient. Only local anesthetic is required.
Why is a Series of Treatments Recommended?
Palomar™ 1540 treatments are most successful in series, with each treatment covering 20 to 25 percent of the skin. In this way, healthy nearby skin helps along healing, leaving treated skin looking younger.
